F16 - Dynamic Fighter
Lockheed Martin F-16CM Fighting Falcon SP AF91 412
USAF viper low level training in Snowdonia whilst on deployment from Spangdahlem, Germany.
The team's F-16CM Fighting Falcon, affectionately known as the "Viper," is a single-seat, multi-role fighter with the ability to switch between an air-to-ground and an air-to-air role at the touch of a button. With its lightweight frame and powerful General Electric engine generating 31,000 pounds of thrust, the F-16 can fly at speeds in excess of Mach 2.
This image was taken at the Machloop in Snowdonia on the 17th of July 2017 when the RIAT was packing up and the aircraft were dispersing back to their bases, some came through the Machloop as it’s known.
I was high up on the location known as the Fence, with some other photographers and keen spotters some of whom had a radio that could intercept ATC traffic giving us a few minutes warning when an aircraft was due to appear.
A pair of F-16CM Jets came screaming up the Valley towards the hills that make up the MachLoop.
This was shot whilst it was still about ¾ of a Kilometre away from us.
I believe that this aircraft was being piloted by Maj. Garret Schmitz.
